Welcome to Mayhem Makeup!

All my life I have been extreme, gaudy and sometimes overly aggressive in everything I do.  I have a natural gift for understanding how to manipulate colors, light and shadows to make something beautiful.  I found out about this in grade school when I took my first art class.  As I got older I grew by using all kinds of media- paints, colored pencils, chalk, digital art and even some photography.

By my freshman year in high school I found makeup as a new form of media and found out that I could apply the same principles to any face.  I will admit at the beginning I thought I knew what I was doing- and even though I look back at some of my photos and giggle to myself- my makeup was actually very well done for my age.I expressed myself in high school with different scenes and styles; goth one day, preppy the next and then throw in a jock day  or two.  Despite school not starting till 7:20, I would wake up extra early to play with my makeup and come up with a new look.  My collection of brushes and colors grew as I got older.  Friends started to notice my talent and soon I was doing everyones makeup for dances, proms or just going out in general.  I enjoyed the attention and the pleasure of literally transforming someone into something amazing.  At that moment I realized that makeup would be part of who I am.

I'm now 25 - and no I did not become a makeup artist.  I applied at MAC but I felt trapped into a box.  I realized most people just walking through the mall that stop for a quick "makeover" at the makeup counter don't understand a few things.  People would come in with a photo and say, "Do that to me" or they would want some rediculous mix of colors.  Not everyone can pull a look and using makeup is more about using your face as a palette and bringing out the best.  Yes, I can shadow your face and highlight areas to make your nose look skinny or shadow your eyes so they look twice as big.  But you can't do miracles.  So I've done makeup now on my time and by my rules.  My collection is an endless cabinet of MAC, Ulta, Sephora, Urban Decay and many others.  I look forward to expanding the possibilites of makeup to others by teaching them the amazing things they can do to highten their confidence in themselves.  The best feeling in the world is making someone feel beautiful.
